Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)

AC Repair Services by Allied AC: Why Is Indoor Air Quality Important?

The quality of the air inside your home is important because it affects everyone who lives there, especially people with asthma or other respiratory issues. Pet dander, allergens, bacteria, mold, algae and many other microscopic contaminants enter your home every day through doors, windows, fireplaces, leaking ductwork, etc. Filtering and cleaning the air as it circulates through your A/C and heating system is the best way to avoid these issues.

Healthy Clean Air in Your Home Services

At Allied, we offer solutions to help purify the air in every room in your home so that everyone can breathe easier. Cleaner air is more beneficial for your air conditioning system and keeps all the working parts clean. Clean air extends the life of your entire system.

Ductwork is critical when talking about IAQ, because leaky ductwork can allow dust and contaminants to infiltrate your home. Also, old ductwork and/or poorly maintained A/C and heating systems can have major contaminant build-up inside them. Therefore, repairing, sealing or replacing ductwork should be the first step towards increasing your indoor air quality. Allied does not currently offer duct cleaning services because we find that, most of the time, it is not yet cost-effective. (see Ductwork & Duct Cleaning)

Your A/C and heating system filter(s) is the first line of defense against contaminants building up inside the system and the ductwork. There are several different types of filters available today, but the most important factor is that they are changed or cleaned regularly. This is the best way to keep contaminants at bay and extend the life of your system and ductwork. Also, the cleaner your system is, the more efficiently it will run, saving you money and heartache. UV Lights have become very popular because they fight the growth of mold and bacteria using Ultra-Violet light. These devices are mounted inside the Air Handler, Furnace, Package Unit or Ductwork and sanitize the air as it passes through the system while also prohibiting mold and bacteria growth inside the indoor coil area of the system. (see UV Lights)

An Air Purifier is a UV Light that also uses Ion technology. So, in addition to the benefits of a UV Light, these devices reduce odors, VOC’s (Chemical Odors), smoke and viruses. Additionally, Air Purifiers naturally generate ionic oxidizers, using positive and negative ion technology, that actively seek out and purify pollutants in the air and on surfaces, and make even your existing air filter system better and more efficient than before.
